A major route through a city is closed after a lorry overturned.

The A140 Colman Road in Norwich is closed in both directions between South Park Avenue and Unthank Road following the incident at about 06:50 GMT.

Norfolk Police said the Co-op lorry had overturned after a collision with a car.

East of England Ambulance Service said it sent two ambulances, with three patients treated at the scene and two of those transported to hospital for further treatment.

Crews were able to place the lorry back onto its wheels later in the morning.

Motorists were advised to plan their routes accordingly while the road remained closed.

A Co-op spokesperson said: "There was an incident involving a Co-op truck and a vehicle in the early hours of this morning in Norwich, which the emergency services have attended.

"Both drivers exited their vehicles and their wellbeing is a priority, as an investigation is undertaken into the incident."
