What is My Blue Peter?
My Blue Peter is how you apply for badges and will keep a handy record of the badges you’ve already got, as well as your badge ID number and badge ID card details. Below you can find information on:
Signing in to My Blue Peter
PLEASE NOTE! You will need a BBC child account to sign into My Blue Peter. This means you will need an individual child account for each child who is applying.
If you don't have your own BBC Child account, grab a grown-up to help and click here to register for a BBC account. You'll need a parent or guardian's permission to sign up. Once you've done that, you can log in! You can find out more about signing in and registering for an account here.
Visit the BBC account help page for more information.
Do I need to create a new My Blue Peter account?
If this is your first time applying for a Blue Peter badge, then yes, sign in with your BBC child account username and create a new My Blue Peter profile. Please take note of your username and password as you will need this every time you want to log in to My Blue Peter and access your digital Badge ID card.
If you already have a badge, no. If you are aged between 5 and 15 years of age and haven’t accessed My Blue Peter before, just sign in with your BBC child account username and click on 'I already have a badge' then let us know your membership number, which is on your badge ID card or any letter we have sent you. Please do not create a new profile as your existing badges will not be displayed.
Do my brothers and sisters have to share the same account as me?
No! Your brothers and sisters can sign up for their own BBC child accounts which can then be linked to your grown-up’s BBC account. Grab your grown-up, and read more information on how to set up individual BBC accounts here.
I’ve forgotten my log in details, what should I do?
If you cannot remember your username and/or password, you’ll need to create a new BBC child account. Visit the BBC account help page for more information. If you have created a new BBC child account contact [email protected] with your full name, address and membership number, so we can unlink the My Blue Peter profile from the original account it was linked with. Please do not create a new My Blue Peter profile!

Sending an application
Why can’t I submit my application?
You can only apply for one Blue Peter badge at a time - via post or online. If you have submitted an application, which hasn't been processed yet, you will not be able to submit a new application until the other application has been processed.
Please also ensure all fields are completed and the minimum word count is reached. Once this is achieved the submit button will be highlighted.
Why can’t I attach a picture or video?
Please ensure you submit images as a .jpeg or .png file. Please do not email in a photo or video if it can’t be included in your application.
We do not accept email badge applications.
How do I check the status of my badge application?
To check the status of your badge application visit the 'My Badges' section in My Blue Peter and look at the icon in the top corner of the badge.

Once you have started a badge application you can save it as a draft, so that you can complete it later. You will see a pencil in the top corner of the badge to show that it is in ‘Draft’ status.
When all the fields are complete and the minimum word count is reached, you can submit your application. A paper aeroplane arrow will show that it is in ‘Submitted’ status. Please allow at least 12 weeks (sometimes longer) for us to view your application.
If your application has been successful, you will see a gold star to show it has been awarded. Please allow at least two weeks from when you see a gold star for the letter and badge to be processed and posted to you.
If a change has been requested, you will see an application and arrow icon. Please view the notes on the application and resubmit it, so a badge can be awarded.
How long will it take for my badge to arrive?
We receive thousands of letters and applications every week and we read every single one, so it can take a bit of time for us to get through them all. We aim to reply to you within 12 weeks, but it can take longer.
I have applied for a Blue Peter badge and it’s not arrived yet.
Please be patient, it maybe that we have received an unprecedented amount of submissions and we have not read yours just yet.
After 12 weeks, check My Blue Peter to see if your status is submitted, successful, or a change has been requested.
You may not be successful if the badge application does not meet the requirements. Your submission must be original, age-appropriate, show creativity and effort and include all the information requested.
We want to hear your ideas and so your badge application must be all your own words and work.
Once your badge application has been reviewed, if something is missing you will receive a message in My Blue Peter and you can try again.
We do not reply to postal applications that are not successful (unless it is a Gold badge nonimation).
The BBC cannot take any responsibility for any technical failure or malfunction, which may result in an application being delayed, or not received.
You can only apply for one Blue Peter badge at a time, online or by post.
