The Menai Suspension Bridge
On 30 January 1826, as bands played and spectators waved flags, sang popular songs and cheered their hearts out, the Menai Suspension Bridge was formally opened. Ynys Môn - or Anglesey as it also known - was at last permanently connected to the mainland of Wales.
Hijinx Theatre’s new drama pods
Cardiff-based theatre group Hijinx is about to tour two new one-act plays as part of their pop-up pods series. The shows are aimed at challenging the audience’s perspective on the world and are each performed by one actor with learning disabilities and one without.
Danish music at Hoddinott Hall
It was so nice to be back on the concert stage on Friday night and to see such a wonderful crowd filling out St David’s Hall. It is a deceptively large auditorium - you don’t appreciate how large it is until you see it with a full house.
Thursday to be coldest day of winter so far
There was a brief window of dry weather and sunshine on Saturday but it didn’t last, with yet more heavy rain, showers and strong to gale force winds over the weekend. The highest gust recorded on Saturday was 75mph at Aberporth, Ceredigion and 70mph at Aberdaron, Gwynedd on Sunday.
