The BBC World News Komla Dumor Award was created to honour Komla Dumor, a presenter for BBC World News, who died suddenly aged 41 in 2014.
Now in its third year, the award celebrates African journalism and finds exceptional talent and this year it's been awarded to Nigerian TV presenter and reporter, Amina Yuguda.
Amina is a well-known and respected presenter on Gotel Television in north-eastern Nigeria, and has reported on a range of the region's high-profile news stories.
The judges said she stood out from the crowd with her tenacity and superb storytelling ability, and is committed to challenging preconceived stereotypes and deepening audiences' understanding of under-reported communities.
Amina will be presented with her award at a ceremony tonight in the BBC Radio Theatre and will then begin a three month placement at the BBC. She will have training with the BBC Academy and work with BBC News teams in London before travelling to Africa to report on a story for a BBC global audience.
Previous winners of the Komla Dumor Award were Ugandan news anchor Nancy Kacungira and Nigerian business journalist Didi Akinyelure.
