Honeymooners' house razed by fire
It took the Green Goddess eight minutes to arrive
A fire in north Nottinghamshire has destroyed the house of a couple who are away on honeymoon.
The military men fighting the fire in Worksop said the newlyweds did not know their home had been gutted. It is not known exactly where the couple are spending their honeymoon. The fire started just after 0100 GMT just metres away from the town's fire station. Smoke inhalation Striking firefighters from the station broke their official picket to help put the fire out and stayed on to advise the military afterwards. Firefighter Bob Mould said: "We felt it was our duty to help the Green Goddesses." Lieutenant Colonel Tim Collins said: "The house was destroyed - unfortunately the crew had to wait a little while until a gas leak was checked out." In a separate house fire in Sherwood in Nottingham, two adults and three children were rescued and taken to hospital. They were treated for breathing smoke and released. It is thought the fire started in the kitchen. Five nearby homes were evacuated during the blaze.
