Tributes have poured in to the BBC for Bee Gee Maurice Gibb, after the pop star died in Miami at the age of 53 from a heart attack.
Condolences arrived by e-mail to BBC News Online at the rate of more than five-a-minute from Bee Gees fans around the world. More than 1000 had arrived by Sunday afternoon. Fans expressed their sadness at the singer's death. One fan from the US, Diana Embry, said: "He will truly be missed but his music and memory will be in our hearts forever." Another, from Em in the UK said: "Thanks for giving me the fever every Saturday night! You'll be missed greatly."
Maurice Gibb had been poorly since Friday afternoon, after he had suffered a heart attack while undergoing surgery for a blocked intestine in a Miami hospital.
The singer's death came as a shock to his friends and family. His twin brother Robin had flown from the UK to be at his bedside. More tributes are expected to be paid over the coming days from the music world. His death is the second tragedy to hit the musical Gibb family. The Bee Gees' younger brother Andy, a star in his own right, died in 1988 after battling cocaine addiction.
