Cockerill hails Tigers' momentum

Cockerill is in charge following Heyneke Meyer's return home

Leicester Tigers acting head coach Richard Cockerill says his side are starting to build momentum.

He told BBC Radio Leicester: "We are unbeaten in three games and we've beaten sides around us.

"The month is massive for us nobody's under any illusions about that, they're tough games and we need to win them."

The Tigers grabbed a dramatic 24-22 victory over Bath at home last week and face local rivals Northampton away in the Premiership on Sunday.

Cockerill added: "All the pressure's on them [Northampton] to keep their home record.

"They've got a good stadium, they're well coached, it's a great set-up and maybe some teams have underestimated them.

"We won't be doing that - it's a massive game for us not only for the points but there's local pride at stake."

Cockerill is expected to remain in charge for the rest of January as head coach Heyneke Meyer has had to return to South Africa due to a serious family illness.
