2210: What a thrilling match. Well done to the Scotland players and the coaching team. Many thanks indeed for logging on, reading and texting and emailing. Hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for your company on a Saturday night...

2204: "Yay for Scotland from an English person. A well deserved victory and you were really unlucky to not get the 15 points."

2203: "Who cares about the ranking, whoever we kept out would be in the next pot. We are always going to get 2 of the top 12 teams anyway. A win is a win and it was a really well deserved one."

2159: "I thought there were 15 heroes on the pitch at all times."
Bill Johnstone tells it like it is to the Radio Scotland listeners.

2156: "It's nice for something to go right for Scotland for once."
David Callam in Buenos Aires is delighted that all his team-mates' hard work has paid dividends.

FULL-TIME: Argentina 14-26 Scotland

80 mins: TRY: Argentina 14-26 Scotland

I don't know know whether to laugh or cry. Horacio Agulla adds a try and Todeschini a conversion in stoppage time, but Scotland don't have the 15-point margin of victory. What a performance, though, so full of bravery and passion. Thrilling stuff.

78 mins: Scotland are defending desperately, trying to run the clock down.

77 mins: "'Last Tango in Buenos Aires' as BJ said."

76 mins: The northern hemisphere teams have taken a spanking today. England were thrashed in New Zealand, Ireland lost 18-12 to Australia and Wales were crushed 37-21 by South Africa. This win is a bit unexpected, but very welcome.

75 mins: Worth remembering that Scotland haven't defeated the Pumas since their first match against them, back in 1990.

73 mins: The victory looks assured. Now the main concern is the 15-point margin Scotland need to get the IRB ranking they crave.

71 mins: TRY: Argentina 7-26 Scotland

What a tremendous try! Dan Parks made a great interception in his own half and ran a good 40 metres before running out of steam. However, he had the energy to loop the ball over to Graeme Morrison to rush through for a try between the posts. The players celebrate wildly!

Paterson adds the extras, cool as you like.

69 min: Scotland are breaking over the halfway line. Dan Parks! Go!! Run!!

67 mins: "That try has the locals bouncing!"
BBC Sport's Alasdair Lamont reports from a reverberating Velez Sarsfield Stadium in Buenos Aires.

64 mins: Another close call for Scotland. A possible try by Argentina, from a similar move to the first try, but the effort by Lucas Borges is ruled out by the eagle-eyed chap with the TV monitor.

63 mins: "To hear BJ saying 'birling at the outside of the rucks' almost brings tears to the eyes. Come on Scots !!"

61 mins: TRY: Argentina 7-19 Scotland.

A tremendous fightback by the Pumas. A deserved try converted by the increasingly influential Juan Fernandez Lobbe. Federico Todeschini adds two points from the resultant kick. Game on!

59 mins: Frantic ball-winning by the Argentines, they are really going for it now.

56 mins: We have a suggestion for a name for the Scotland team...

"Scottish nickname? Could go with the boring Thistles i guess. But how about celebrating our fantastic cusine - 'The Deep Fried Mars Bars'?"
Sir-Edmund-The-Bluenose

54 mins: Tempers beginning to boil over slightly in Buenos Aires. Scotland's Euan Murray and the Pumas' captain Felipe Contepomi have been sin-binned for a set-to.

52 mins: PENALTY: Argentina 0-19 Scotland

OK, Scotland may have failed to capitalise on that last chance, but Chris Paterson takes his international points total to 685 with a monstrous kick.

50 mins: A thunderous drive pushes an Argentina scrum back and Ben Cairns emerges with the ball to scamper deep into enemy territory but the centre lacks support and the chance is gone.

50 mins: Ah, Bill Johnstone. What a tremendous commentator. "Simon Webster is tigerish in the tackle." He paints a picture in your head, doesn't he?

48 mins: "We need to press on. The Pumas are capable of special things."

46 mins: "Just had a quick word with SRU chief exec Gordon McKie and chairman George Jack and they've enjoyed the first half as much as I have. Here's hoping for more of the same..."
BBC Sport's Alasdair Lamont in Buenos Aires

45 mins: Phew. That was a bit too close for comfort. The Pumas' kicker Federico Todeschini has missed his second penalty of the match. Not an easy one, though, for the Argentine number 10 - the kick was from 45 metres in a swirling wind and he missed by about a metre.

42mins: Something has been troubling me... The Argentine team have a fantastic nickname - the Pumas. Then you have the Springboks, the Wallabies, the All Blacks... Scotland need a cool name. The Caledonian cats? The Scottish Lynx? Nah, that sounds like a dodgy deoderant, redolent of old chip fat. Any suggestions?

41 mins: "Brilliant first 40 - got a feeling I am watching the second half behind the sofa as Argentina rumble. Such a difference to see the backs running and beating players."
Edinburgh Pete

2104: The second half is about to kick off.

2102: What value can you place on there being ten Edinburgh players in the side? What a contrast to the Pumas. In their XV they have guys who play for Sale, Leinster, Montpellier and Parma. What do these fellas buy with their air miles?

2101: "We seem to have found some counter attacking flair at last!!! see what can happen when we don't kick away possession???"
Alan Main for Hibs

2059: Peter Wright is not so confident, though. The ex-international would like to see a few more tries before he can relax!

2058: "More of the same in the second half and the game's ours."
The opinion of David Callam on Radio Scotland.

HALF-TIME: Argentina 0-16 Scotland

40 mins: John Barclay wins Scotland a penalty and Hugo Southwell boots the kick into touch. The bold Barclay is getting in amongst it in the contact area, just what Hadden brought him in to do.

Half-time approaching and the Pumas are pressing Scotland. The Scots are defending well just a few metres from the try-line. A 16-0 half-time lead would be incredible.

36 mins: "16 - 0 and surprisingly, it looks like we might get the 15 points we need for a second tier placement in the world cup draw."

34 mins: "That is a magnificent kick!"

Radio Scotland commentator Bill Johnstone, just about keeping it together in Buenos Aires.

33 mins: PENALTY: Argentina 0-16 Scotland

Marcos Ayerza is involved in an ugly wrestling match with Chris Paterson but the record-breaking Scottish winger is able to dust himself down and slot over his fourth effort with the boot.

32 mins: "So this is what it feels like when Scotland play well...it feels good."

31 mins: "Fantastic performance for Scotland so far. I was sceptical about Godman, but figured he couldnt be much worse than Parks, however, he's been playing well."

29 mins: The Scots are stretched by a prolonged attacking phase but the visitors hold firm.

29 mins: David Callam might not be playing for his country this evening, but he's a happy bunny. He's telling listeners to Radio Scotland's coverage that his team-mates look the hungrier side. I guess the players know the pressure on the head coach to get a result!

28 mins: The inclusion of John Barclay is paying dividends for Scotland head coach Frank Hadden. He has been heavily involved in the play.

27 mins: "Todeschini's penalty miss and Scotland's impressive start has silenced the Buenos Aires crowd," reports BBC Sport's Alasdair Lamont in Buenos Aires.

25 mins: "Scotland are playing like Argentina did last week," says David Callam on BBC Radio Scotland's Sportsound coverage.

23 mins: TRY: Argentina 0-13 Scotland.

Fantastic. A try for Scotland! No, I haven't made a typo here. Great interplay between Morrison and Blair - Ross Ford managed to get the ball over the line.

Paterson adds the extras.

22 mins: Scotland are looking for their first win over Argentina in 18 years. They beat the Pumas in 1990 in their first match but have lost the seven subsequent matches. Ouch!

20 mins: PENALTY: Argentina 0-6 Scotland

Chris Paterson makes no mistake from the left side of the field with a confident boot and doubles the Scots' advantage.

17 mins: Scotland are awarded a penalty. Mike Blair takes a quick one while the Argentine players have their backs turned, but the captain is quickly fouled.

14 mins: Nicolas Vergallo nips in to steal the ball from a Scottish scrum but a crunching tackle from Simon Webster prevents the counter-attack. The tackle is ruled high but Federico Todeschini misses the posts with his penalty attempt.

12 mins: "The Argentines may have played the same way for 40 years, but they're very good, and have 4 decades of practice. Chris Paterson hasn't been kicking that long."

10 mins: Chris Paterson is winning his 88th cap, overtaking Scott Murray's record. Where does he put them all? Imagine having 88 of anything...socks, shirts, hats. The bold Paterson recently beat Gavin Hastings' points record for his country. With that penalty he's on 677 points. Awesome!

8 mins: "There's a wee clan of Scots fans thirty feet below us," says Radio Scotland commentator Bill Johnstone.

6 mins: PENALTY: Argentina 0-3 Scotland

Chris Paterson making a record 88th appearance for Scotland slots over the first points of the game. Just reward for a positive opening.

4 mins: Scotland have made a bright start and a powerful surge from John Barclay has the home defence in all sorts of trouble.

3 mins: "They've come out all guns blazing, good to see!"

1 min: There's a swirling wind in the Velez Sarsfield Stadium. Nothing to worry Chris Paterson with his kicking ability.

2010: The match has kicked off a minute or so early. No hanging about, eh?

Here are the team line-ups for you:

Argentina: Bernardo Stortoni; Lucas Borges, Gonzalo Tiesi, Felipe Contepomi (capt), Horacio Agulla; Federico Todeschini, Nicolas Vergallo; Juan Manuel Leguizamon, Juan Fernandez Lobbe, Martin Durand; Esteban Lozada, Ignacio Fernández Lobbe; Santiago Gonzalez Bonorino, Alvaro Tejeda, Marcos Ayerza Replacements: Pablo Gambarini, Juan Gomez, James Stuart, Alvaro Galindo, Alfredo Lalanne, Federico Martin Aramburu, Federico Serra

Scotland: Hugo Southwell; Chris Paterson, Ben Cairns, Graeme Morrison, Simon Webster; Phil Godman, Mike Blair (capt); Allister Hogg, John Barclay, Alasdair Strokosch; Scott MacLeod, Matt Mustchin; Euan Murray, Ross Ford, Allan Jacobsen Replacements: Dougie Hall, Alasdair Dickinson, Alastair Kellock, Kelly Brown, Rory Lawson, Dan Parks, Nick De Luca

2008: "The Argentines have played the same way for the past 40 years." So says Scotland flanker David Callam in the commentary box in Argentina.

2006: Our commentator Bill Johnstone is over in Buenos Aires and he says it's a bit chilly. Cripes, a Borders man feels the cold!

2003: What's the big deal about a 15-point win? (Cough) Well...if Scotland can win by a whopping 15 points then we can leap two points in the IRB rankings. That would move Scotland from tenth place to eighth and give us an easier draw when the World Cup draw is made at the end of the year.

1957: Uh-oh. Not everyone is so sure we can win, at least not by a huge margin...

"15 points clear from a team that can't score tries... here's hoping but just can't see it."

1949: Hey, this is uncanny. I just went down to the reception area at Pacific Quay here in Glasgow to take Peter Wright to the radio studio. Now, here's a man with 21 caps for Scotland...and he predicts the same as Gary Parker - a three-point win for Scotland. These guys can't be wrong, can they?

1945: Let's hope Gary Parker knows a thing or two about Scotland's chances. BBC Scotland's rugby presenter is predicting a three-point win for the Scots.

1940: Hello, good evening and welcome to the clockwatch for the second Test match between Argentina and Scotland.
