Newcastle Vipers have signed Mississippi Sea Wolves winger Mike Berry to their roster for the 2009-10 Elite League campaign. Berry, 25, will link up with former team-mate Jason Tejchma at the Arena and will also combine playing time with his educational studies on Tyneside. "I like the sound of playing my hockey with the Vipers and playing alongside Jason Tejchma," he said. "One of the big factors was the chance to study for a Masters while I'm here." Coach Rob Wilson was delighted to have added extra depth to his forward line, and believes Berry's arrival will bring a different dimension to that of Tejchma and other close-season signing Todd Griffith.

He is another positive addition to our line-up

"Mike is a different kind of player to Jason Tejchma, but it's important to have a mix of skills across the forwards," he told the Vipers' website. "Mike has a grittier edge and isn't afraid to mix it up with the opposition if required, but he has the skills to make and score the all-important goals too. "He is another positive addition to our line-up, and I'm very happy with how the recruitment is going."
