Belfast Giants suffered their second overtime defeat of the weekend as they were beaten 4-3 by Manchester in the Elite League.
The match also served as the first leg of the Knockout Cup final but overtime does not count so that stands at 3-3.
Lucas Burnett opened the scoring for Phoenix but goals from Tyler Howells and Bobby Robins put Belfast 2-1 up.
Two Luke Fulghum goals had Manchester ahead and Colin Shields levelled before Nathan Ward's overtime strike.
The second leg will face off at 1900 GMT on Thursday at the Odyssey Arena, when the Giants will be hoping to add the Knockout Cup to the Challenge Cup triumph earlier this month.
On Saturday night, the Giants surrendered a 3-1 lead as they suffered an overtime defeat against Coventry Blaze in the Elite League.
Barrie Moore put Coventry ahead but Steve Thornton, Evan Cheverie and Mark Morrison replied for the Giants.
Jonathan Weaver, Mathias Soderstrom and Dan Carlson scored in the middle period to give Coventry a 4-3 advantage.
Bobby Robins' goal ensured overtime but Leigh Jamieson hit the winner in overtime against his former team.
