Like all jockeys, McCoy fights a constant battle with the scales in order to maintain his riding weight and says that it is the most depressing part of the job.
"It's difficult getting up every day knowing the first thing you have to do is get on the weighing scales," he said.
"Every morning before racing I have a hot bath for an hour or so and that helps me lose four or five pounds. We're also lucky that there are saunas at all of the courses if you need to lose any extra pounds.
"You have to have the right energy levels to perform but there are days when you eat less than normal, although it is not as bad as what some people believe
"However, if I am injured or am on holidays I eat like a normal person and it is the same on days when I am not racing, otherwise you would go demented."
