Since riding his first winner Legal Steps at Thurles in March 1994 when he was 17 years old, McCoy has enjoyed much success, not least his 13 jockeys titles, to dominate the sport.
The Cheltenham Festival has proved fruitful for McCoy with 20 victories, including five at the 1998 meeting
He won the Cheltenham Gold Cup in 1997 on Mr Mulligan, the Champion Hurdle on Make A Stand (1997) and Brave Inca (2006) and the 2000 Queen Mother Champion Chase on Edredon Bleu.
"I've had lots of good times and some bad times at the Cheltenham Festival," he explained. "But that's part and parcel of the sport and that's what makes Cheltenham the place it is.
"It has such a special atmosphere and it is the place where every jump jockey wants to win the most."
