Greechan looks set to make it through to the quarter-finals in Scotland
|
In-form Lindsey Greechan went top of her group in the Champion of Champions Bowls tournament in Scotland after two wins on Monday.
She is now a firm favourite to qualify for Friday's quarter-finals after rising from fifth place at the start of the day.
Greechan beat both Katrina Wright of Australia 7-5, 13-3 and then Swaziland's Dawn Squires 7-5, 10-4.
She is ahead of England's Edna Bessell on shots difference.
And Greechan's run-in is not too difficult on paper.
Her last three group games see her face a tough match against third placed Camilla Leung from Hong Kong, then Maureen Burns from Kenya who is in mid-table before ending with a game against bottom of the group Winifred Eagle from Spain.
By contrast, her husband Tommy Greechan cannot now reach the quarters-finals.
Despite his second win of the week, an 8-312-5 victory against Fiji's Ratish Lal, he lost to the Philippines' Leo Carreon 4-9, 5-8 and stays in ninth place in his group with two wins and five defeats so far.
