Doncaster's Sarah Stevenson booked a trip to the 2008 Olympics by winning +67kg silver at Manchester's World Taekwondo Olympic Qualification Event.
The 24-year-old won through despite still recovering from a broken hand suffered at the World Championships.
She chose to avoid the risk of further injury by forfeiting her final.
Dorchester's Aaron Cook, 16, lost in the -80kg quarter-finals and will hope for better in January's European Qualification Event in Istanbul.

Mansfield's Tony Grisman lost in the third round of the -68kg event, and Elgin's Louise Mair was beaten in the -49kg third round.
Great Britain performance director Gary Hall said: "All the team fought fantastically well and will have learnt a tremendous amount from this event.
"Sarah has proven herself on the international stage many times before but to go out there and perform the way she did when she's still recovering from a broken hand was quite exceptional."
