Jin Jong-Oh went one better than his 10m pistol silver
|
Jin Jong-Oh of South Korea claimed gold in the men's 50m pistol shooting event by the smallest of margins.
He scored 660.4 to secure the Olympic title just ahead of North Korea's Kim Jong-su, who shot a total of 660.2. Tan Zongliang won bronze for hosts China.
Jin scored only 8.2 of a possible 10.9 points on his final attempt, meaning Kim and Tan each could have won.
But Tan managed a 9.2, and Kim shot a 10.5, falling just 0.2 points short of Jin's total.
Jin also took silver in the men's 10m air pistol event on day two of the Beijing Games ahead of Kim, who won bronze.
The shooters from the rival Korean nations shook hands at Tuesday's medal ceremony, and Jin patted Kim on the shoulder.
