Swindon boss Alun Rossiter is hoping that moving Travis McGowan to reserve could re-energise the Robins' season.
The 27-year-old has struggled for form this year after picking up a shoulder injury in the Australian Championships.
His low average means he will soon be riding at reserve for the Robins, making it easier to pick up points.
"Hopefully it'll have the same kick as it did last season for Charlie Gjedde when he went to reserve and cleaned up," Rossiter told BBC Radio Swindon.
