West Brom are set to seal the signing of Borja Valero from Real Mallorca for a club record fee of £4.75m.
The 23-year-old midfielder, who began his career at Real Madrid, is expected to sign a four-year deal.
The Baggies have not confirmed the move but the Spanish player's agent, Martan Paledes, said the deal has been agreed.
"This has gone through with West Brom and we are very pleased," said Paledes. "Borja is relishing the chance to play in the Premier League."
Valero came through the youth ranks at Real Madrid and made his senior debut for the Bernabeu club in a Spanish Cup match against Ecija Balompie in October 2006.
He also made a substitute appearance in a Champions League match against Dinamo Kiev later that season.
But he was released by Real last summer and signed a five-year contract with Real Mallorca.
Valero, who is believed to have told Mallorca that he wants to leave, played against West Brom in a pre-season friendly 10 days ago, impressing Baggies boss Tony Mowbray.
