Dyer made just three starts in three months on loan at Sheffield United
Swansea have completed the loan signing of controversial winger Nathan Dyer from Championship rivals Southampton.
The 21-year-old has spent the last three months on loan at Sheffield United but has joined the Swans until the end of the season.
Swansea hope to complete the paperwork so Dyer is available for their FA Cup third round tie at non-league Histon.
"Swansea are the Arsenal of the Championship and their style was the main attraction for me," said Dyer.
Dyer captured the headlines for his off-the-field activities earlier this year when he was ordered to carry out 60 hours of community service after admitting a burglary at a Portsmouth nightclub.
He was arrested in March after items including mobile phones and £145 in cash were taken from Bar Bluu nightclub in Southsea on 28 February.
But the 21-year-old is a highly-promising player and was awarded a new three year contract at Southampton in the summer.
The Saints are struggling in the Championship relegation zone but boss Jan Poortvliet has allowed Dyer to leave for Swansea after his loan spell at Sheffield United ended this week.
"I'm very pleased to join, it's a great club and a great set-up," said Dyer.
"The manager told me how much he wanted me to come down and play and their brand of football was the key factor for my decision, their style is amazing.
"And I want to play some football."
Meanwhile, Coventry City have recalled goalkeeper Dimitrios Konstantopoulos from his loan spell at the Liberty Stadium.
