Michael Owen was missing from the Newcastle squad as they beat Juventus 2-0 in a friendly at St James' Park.
Owen joined Shola Ameobi on the sidelines, while summer signing Mark Viduka is yet to join up with the squad after international duty.
Albert Luque put Newcastle ahead from the penalty spot after Jonathan Zebina impeded James Milner in the area.
Substitute Andy Carroll scored the second after Juve keeper Gianluigi Buffon parried Obafemi Martin's shot.
