Histon boss Steve Fallon was unimpressed with his side's performance against local rivals Cambridge City in the Cambs Professional Cup.
After holding City to a 1-1 draw in normal time, the Stutes eventually lost 4-3 on penalties in what was their penultimate pre-season warm-up match.
"I was disappointed with us all round really," Fallon told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.
"We've got supporters and they pay the money and expect a little bit more."
Ashley Fuller put City ahead early in the match, but midfielder Antonio Murray pulled Histon level just before the break.
Both sides named their strongest available line-ups for the match, but Fallon admitted he may make changes to his first 11 should he not see a reaction at Chelmsford on Saturday.
"This looks like the team that's going to start - but one or two will be looking over their shoulders now."
Meanwhile, Lilywhites boss Gary Roberts was delighted to retain the trophy.
He said: "We competed very well I thought. It was a very tight game"
Roberts ran his eye over strikers Chukki Eribenne and Dan Chillingworth, and admitted he is keen to add some extra firepower to his squad.
"We will have a lot of the ball in different games [in the Southern Premier], but it's all about scoring goals."
