Cumbrians look to improve - Raven

Carlisle United defender David Raven says the team are working hard to end their losing run in League One.

The Cumbrians travel to seventh-placed Walsall this Saturday and are looking to improve after their recent defeats to Leeds and Scunthorpe.

"We've analysed where things have gone wrong and how we can improve," Raven told BBC Radio Cumbria.

"But sometimes you have to hold your hand up to good play by the opposition and that's been the case at times."

He added: "I'd sooner get beaten by playing really badly than the way we are at the moment.

It was always important for us to get a few points on the board from our opening games because we knew the games this month would be tough

"We are playing well but we are losing so it is frustrating."

Raven, 22, joined the Cumbrians from Liverpool in July 2006 on a two-year contract.

The former England Youth captain was a product of Liverpool's academy and made eight first-team appearances for the reds before his move to Brunton Park.

"In this league it's all about getting a run together and if you can do that, then you will be up there.

"Walsall is another big game for us," he said.

"It was always important for us to get a few points on the board from our opening games because we knew the games this month would be tough and this game will be no different."
