Bristol Rovers have signed goalkeeper Rhys Evans on a one-month deal following a trial spell at the club.
The 27-year-old, a former Chelsea player, was released by Bradford City at the end of last season.
Evans will challenge for the number-one spot along with fellow loan signing Newcastle keeper Fraser Forster.
"I've not come here to be a number three or a number two. Obviously my experience is something he hasn't got at the moment," Evans told BBC Bristol.
He added: "Fraser's got different physical attributes to me. The experience is where, if anywhere , I'll win the battle.
"Like a lot of players it's been quite a stressful summer.
"With the current situation in the game to sign is a small relief."

This is Evans' second spell at the Memorial Stadium afters Rovers gave him his debut in League football back in 2000.
"I've always looked for the results of Bristol Rovers as it's something that's always stuck with me.
"I think I did OK. I learnt a hell of a lot and I think it's stood me in good stead," Evans said.
Rovers' first-choice keeper of last season, Steve Phillips, is currently in talks with Turkish club Ankara.
