Arsenal striker Bendtner ruled out until the new year
Bendtner has been injury-plagued since signing a new deal in September
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says striker Nicklas Bendtner is expected to be out until the new year.
The 21-year-old had surgery in November after suffering a groin injury in the 3-0 win over Tottenham on 31 October and had been expected to return soon.
"Let's say the new year," Wenger said. "It is quite disappointing because he looked quite sharp."
The Dane has been hampered by injury this season and started just four league games for the Gunners.
His longer-than-expected absence increases the need for Wenger to enter the transfer market for a striker in January.
The club have been struggling for numbers in that area this season following the sale of Emmanuel Adebayor to Manchester City in the summer and subsequent injury problems to key forwards.
Dutch international Robin van Persie is a long-term absentee with an ankle injury, which prompted Wenger to say he was likely to buy in the transfer window.
Eduardo also missed last Saturday's win over Stoke, when Wenger was forced to use winger Andrey Arshavin up front.
