Premier League newcomers at Aston Villa
Aston Villa have been in the papers more than most clubs this summer, what with all that transfer brouhaha surrounding wantaway captain Gareth Barry and suitors Liverpool.
But so far Barry has stayed and wily boss Martin O'Neill has managed to strengthen his squad at Villa Park.
In come Steve Sidwell, Curtis Davies, Brad Friedel, Nicky Shorey and Luke Young, as well as a couple of guys yet to taste the delights of the Premier League.
US goalkeeper Brad Guzan, 23, follows countryman Friedel into the club from Chivas after some work permit trouble.
"This is a very special young man with the potential of becoming one of the great goalkeepers in the international game," said Chivas president Shawn Hunter.
O'Neill has also swooped for Spanish defender Carlos Cuellar from Rangers for £7.8m, named last season as the SPL player of the year and Scottish Football Writers Associations player of the year.
"I want to stay at Rangers for life," he said at one of the awards ceremonies. Er...
