ICC stays out of Zimbabwe crisis
ICC chief executive Malcolm Speed
I am sure the ICC board will discuss the matter at its next meeting
Malcolm Speed
The International Cricket Council says it will not intervene in the crisis in Zimbabwean cricket.

Captain Tatenda Taibu quit last week citing the deteriorating state of the game in the country and personal threats made against him.

ICC chief executive Malcolm Speed said: "I am extremely saddened for the cricketers and people of Zimbabwe.

"There has been disintegration but we don't get involved unless invited by administrators of that country."

Other Zimbabwe players are considering their positions and if they also quit, it will further weaken a side which is struggling to compete on the international stage.

The team's West Indian coach Phil Simmons was sacked in August following a dismal sequence of results.

They are expected to struggle again when they play two Tests and five one-dayers in the West Indies next April.

"I am sure the ICC board will discuss the matter at its next meeting," Speed added.
