Retired Australia cricket great Glenn McGrath has confirmed he does want to play in the breakaway Indian Cricket League, where he would join Brian Lara.
McGrath said: "It's obviously tempting. You can make a bit of money. Probably a month will give me that fix of playing again - it might be all I need."
Despite signing Lara, organisers have struggled to snare the signatures of many current international players.
Pakistan stars Shoaib Akhtar and Shahid Afridi said they were not interested.
Both Pakistan and India have said that players on national contracts would be banned if they played in the ICL, which will feature six teams playing Twenty20 cricket.
Former Australian batsman Dean Jones, helping to entice big-name players to the competition, said he was confident the series would go ahead as planned.
"The fans and the viewers will be quite happy with the signings we'll get, trust me," he said.
Shoaib said: "I was offered a decent amount from the Indian league officials, but I have decided my country is far more important for me."
Afridi said: "Pakistan has given me name, fame and money so I think I should stick to playing for the country."
Mohammad Yousuf and Abdul Razzaq, who have not signed fresh Pakistan contracts, remain potential targets for the ICL.
And there is mounting speculation about former Sri Lanka captain Marvan Atapattu, who has been allowed to end his central contract early.
