James Benning and Claude Henderson each took three wickets on day three to help Leicestershire earn a first-innings lead over Glamorgan at Grace Road.

After Leicestershire were bowled out for 282, Mike Powell (61) and Jamie Dalrymple (37) took Glamorgan to 146-3.

But Benning (3-43) removed both men and Henderson (3-31) ran through the lower order to see Glamorgan bowled out for 218, despite Robert Croft's 40 not out.

The hosts then reached 21-0 at the close, with a draw the likely outcome.

The home side added 13 to their overnight score of 269-9 before AJ Harris was trapped lbw by his namesake James, leaving Henderson (79 not out) just three short of a career-best score.

After Iain O'Brien, Wayne White and Leicestershire's Harris all struck to reduce the visitors to 64-3, Powell and Dalrymple set about repairing the damage.

However, when Dalrymple was trapped lbw by the medium-pace of Benning it sparked a collapse which saw Glamorgan lose four wickets for eight runs in the six overs before tea.

Powell was one of them, also lbw to Benning, before Croft's 55-ball effort helped the visitors past the 200 mark.

Henderson bowled Chris Ashling to end the innings, and with openers Paul Nixon and Matt Boyce surviving the final 11 overs of the day, Leicestershire hold the advantage.
