Bell in form as Notts draw looms

COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION ONE, Edgbaston
6-9 June (Play starts 1100 BST)
Warwickshire 367-7 (Warwicks 4pts, Notts 2pts)

Ian Bell struck a half century as the third day finally brought some play in the County Championship match between Warwickshire and Nottinghamshire.

Bell (60) shared 56 for the second wicket with Ian Westwood (73) as the home side reached 367-7 at the close.

Jim Troughton (63 not out) and Neil Carter (47) were also in the runs, with Luke Fletcher picking up three wickets for the visitors at Edgbaston.

However, after rain washed out the first two days, a draw looks likely.

Carter's 47 came from just 26 balls as he re-ignited Warwickshire's innings.

After Tim Ambrose and Keith Barker were dismissed in quick succession, Carter came to the crease at 242-6 and promptly smashed five fours and three sixes to help the home side end the day on a high.

He was eventually caught by the returning Charlie Shreck, off the bowling of Darren Pattinson, just short of his half century.
