Third set:

Federer 6-4 Berdych
Federer pumps down his 20th ace for 15-15 and he is just points away from another consumate victory here. Berdych nicks a point at 15-30 and there a few scattered shouts of encouragement from the crowd. Yet another ace from the defending champion takes him to 30-30 and he rushes in to smash the ball down to move to match point. Berdych goes long and Federer is into the last eight.

The defending champion pulls on his special Nike cream jacket to wolf whistles from the crowd, he smiles, he waves and his job is done - for now.

"He looks the part, he is the part, he is undoubtedly the man. He is into the quarter-finals without breaking sweat."

Federer 5-4 Berdych
It is the same out pattern from Federer as he moves to 15-40 on Berdych's serve. The defending champion breaks Berdych with almost ridiculous ease. He flicks a backhand of the face of his racquet and it fizzes close to the line and out of reach.

Federer is simply untouchable as he notches up his third love service game in a row.

Federer 3-4 Berdych
Berdych holds to edge ahead. But just in case, Federer repeats his trick and breaks Berdych in his next service game then here are some random facts about the Czech. He's a big ice hockey fan and likes movies and music too. Nice.

Federer 3-3 Berdych
Another lashing forehand from Federer takes him to 30-0 and all Berdych can do with his next delivery is ping it off the face of his racquet. Federer holds to love - and here's another stat - he has lost just 13 points on his serve the entire match.

Federer 2-3 Berdych
Berdych notches up another service game but he will be expecting Federer to make his move soon.

Federer 2-2 Berdych
Same old story as Federer holds again - and it takes him just one-and-a-half minutes to do it.

Federer 1-2 Berdych
A nice passing shot from Berdych sees him hold and the players sit down once more. A lot of players get caught in the headlights of the Federer express but, to his credit, Berdych has played some decent stuff out on Centre. It is just really hard to combat Federer's flowing game.

Federer 1-1 Berdych
There are no worries in the Federer camp, his girlfriend Mirka takes time out to snack as her man - and she has got her hands on the world number one - comfortably holds his serve.

Federer 0-1 Berdych
Berdych holds to 30 to get the third set up and running. This is the 20-year-old's third time at Wimbledon but his first time in the fourth round. Those stats are unlikely to be consolation to Berdych if he is another victim of the Federer masterclass.

Second set:

Federer 6-3 Berdych
The top seed and defending champion moves to 40-0 to have three set points within his sights. And Federer unleashes a 15th ace to send Berdych back to his seat.

Federer 5-3 Berdych
Now Berdych is in real trouble. He slides to 0-30 only to see Federer show his class with a brilliant forehand down the line. After 27 minutes, Federer breaks to take a 5-3 lead - things are looking bleak for Berdych now.

Federer 4-3 Berdych
Federer serves up his first double fault of the match at 0-15 but he quickly pulls back to 30-15. He is rarely troubled and he holds.

Federer 3-3 Berdych
A backhand down the line sees Berdych move to 30-15 but Federer gets lucky when the ball rolls along the net and drops over for 40-40. A second double fault of the match for Berdych sees him slide to deuce. A decent body serve takes him to advantage and he holds. Let's hope two five-set matches are not taking their toll on the Czech - he appears to be struggling a little with his shoulder.

Federer 3-2 Berdych
The defending champion continues to punish the 13th seed with his huge serve - his fastest one of the match so far a lightning 127 mph. There is no way through for Berdych as Federer holds with ease.

Federer 2-2 Berdych
There is more danger on the Berdych serve as the 20-year-old is taken to 30-30 by Federer. But some strong serving from the Czech sees him through and it is all square in the second.

Federer 2-1 Berdych
Berdych sends a lovely forehand past Federer, who is stranded at the net, to move to 30-40. But some good defensive work from Federer sees him hold.

Federer 1-1 Berdych
If Berdych is to have any chance of getting back into this match he may have to use his Olympic victory over Federer to inspire him. The Olympic motto is "faster, higher, stronger," - that will do for Berdych, who holds to 15.

Federer 1-0 Berdych
There is another small opening for Berdych as Federer misses his mark at 15-30. The Czech fails to take advantage as he nets the ball but then Federer follows suit to offer Berdych a break point at 30-40. He snuffs that out with ace number nine and coolly holds.

First set:

Federer 6-3 Berdych
Berdych gets in a pickle at the net as he tries to return a low shot from Federer at 0-15. There is more trouble as a predatory Federer grabs set point at 30-40 with a swinging forehand. The top seed comes in to the net and makes no mistake, breaking Berdych again to take the first set in just under half an hour.

Federer 5-3 Berdych
A glimpse of hope for Berdych as he takes Federer to deuce as the Swiss nets the ball. The top seed responds with a cracking serve and an angled backhand seals the break.
"Federer has 82% of first serves in so you have absolutely no chance of breaking."

Federer 4-3 Berdych
Berdych slides on the worn grass on the baseline to concede a point at 15-15. The 13th seed follows that up with his first ace and Federer answers at 30-30 with one of his trademark forehands. The Swiss just nicks the edge of the line at 30-40 - Berdych was so desperate for the ball to go out that he cheekily tried to blow it beyond the line as it sailed past. But almost inevitably Berdych hits wide to hand him the break.

Federer 3-3 Berdych
An ace from Federer - his fourth - gets his game under way. Federer has plenty of energy despite the heat but his enthusiasm gets the better of him as he lashes another mishit into the crowd. The top seed sends down another ace to easily hold.

Federer 2-3 Berdych
It really is very quiet out on Centre. There are only seven perched in the players' box with Federer's long-standing girlfriend Mirka Vavrinec, providing all the glamour as the lone female. On court, Berdych saves a break point at 30-40 and then holds with a cross-court shot played just beyond the net.

Federer 2-2 Berdych
Federer sends down a fierce smash to hold his serve to love. The two players have met four times but the one and only time Berdych got the better of Federer was two year ago at the Athens Olympics.

Federer 1-2 Berdych
Berdych has settled in nicely and holds to love. The players quickly retreat to their chairs for water while some of the crowd filters back to their seats.

Federer 1-1 Berdych
Federer draws "ooohs" from the crowd when he thrashes the ball wildly long with the racquet but he holds to 15.

Federer 0-1 Berdych
Berdych serves first to get the match under way in front of plenty of empty seats on Centre Court. Federer gets straight down to business with a fizzing backhand at 15-30. A mishit from Berdych hands Federer his first break point of the match - surely it won't be this easy for the defending champion? It isn't yet - after nearly five minutes, Berdych holds with a neat serve.

1637 BST: Federer and Berdych go through their final warm-ups warming up in a somewhat subdued Centre Court after Briton Andy Murray's disappointing exit.

1630 BST: Roger Federer has dispatched Richard Gasquet, Britain's Tim Henman and Nicolas Mahut without dropping a set on his way to this fourth-round tie.

The world number one has set his sights on a fourth straight Wimbledon crown and on this sort of form, who can stop him?

His opponent on Centre Court this time, Tomas Berdych, does not think he is the man for the job before a single ball has been hit.
