Dalglish was an obvious choice for the Hall of Fame

The first 20 members of the country's new Hall of Fame were announced on Sunday, with Jim Baxter, Denis Law and Kenny Dalglish among those named.

The list also features four legendary managers: Sir Matt Busby, Bill Shankly, Jock Stein and Sir Alex Ferguson.

The 20 were chosen by a panel of football experts.

Billy McNeill, John Greig and Willie Miller are also among the inductees. The trio were the respective captains of Celtic, Rangers and Aberdeen when their clubs won European trophies.

As well as McNeill, there are two further Lisbon Lions on the list - Jimmy Johnstone and Bobby Murdoch.

Earlier eras are represented by Patsy Gallacher, Jimmy McGrory, Willie Woodburn and Gordon Smith.

The concept of a Hall of Fame was introduced to complement the SFA's existing unofficial version for players who win 50 or more Scotland caps.

The aim of the new one is to honour those who have made an outstanding contribution to the Scottish game, meaning that future additions need not necessarily be Scots.

Billy Bremner, Dave Mackay, Danny McGrain and Graeme Souness are the others to be included on the original list of inductees.
