Scotland's Allan Jacobsen faces up to four months on the sidelines after undergoing shoulder surgery.
The prop sustained the injury in last Saturday's 26-6 Six Nations victory over Italy at Murrayfield and was replaced by Alasdair Dickinson.
Scotland team doctor James Robson said the operation had been a success, adding: "Chunk will now undergo a period of convalescence.
"We expect him to be out of action for up to four months."
The Edinburgh forward, along with fellow front-row players Ross Ford and Euan Murray, was praised by Hadden for his performance as Scotland recorded their first Six Nations victory of the 2009 championship.
There was better news for Hadden as injuries received by Glasgow Warriors pair Alastair Kellock and Max Evans are not as bad as first feared.
Lock Kellock strained ligaments in his left ankle, while centre Evans took a blow to the face.
Robson said: "Al is now wearing an immobilising boot and will begin his rehabilitation under the care of the Glasgow Warriors physiotherapy staff on Monday with a view to being able to resume training in around seven days.
"Max has severe bruising to his right cheek, but, happily, an X-ray has indicated there is no break."
