Newcastle Falcons prop Jon Golding has signed a new deal with the club, although the terms remain undisclosed in line with club policy. The 28-year-old, who made his England bow against the Barbarians in 2010, has made 11 appearances this season, despite an Achilles injury. "I'm delighted to have signed a new contract at the Falcons," Golding told the club website. "As a local lad this means a lot and hopefully we can now push on." The signing is a boost to head coach Alan Tait, as he looks to tie up his players for the 2011-12 campaign. "Jon is an outstanding player and this is another sign of intent by the club," said Tait. "He's really settled in the north-east and he wants to be part of what we're trying to achieve at this club." Golding joined Newcastle from Rotherham in February 2006, and signed an extension to the initial deal in March 2009.
