A knee injury sidelined Voyce for three months earlier in the season

Tom Voyce will undergo surgery on the dislocated shoulder he sustained during Wasps' play-off win over Bath.

The surgery will aim to stabilise the shoulder joint, after which he will undergo three months of rehabilitation to get fit for the 2008/09 season.

Voyce's team-mate Danny Cipriani suffered a fracture dislocation of his ankle in the same match at Adams Park.

The fly-half has been released from hospital following surgery and his condition is said to be "comfortable".

Both backs will miss the Guinness Premiership final against Leicester on 31 May, with Cipriani expected to miss the next six months.

Wasps said the operation, conducted by ankle specialist James Calderon, went "exceptionally well".

Cipriani's right ankle will now remain elevated for a two-week period as part of the healing process.

The 20-year-old's absence has forced England team manager Martin Johnson to name Leicester centre Dan Hipkiss as Cipriani's replacement for the two-Test New Zealand tour next month.

Voyce had an MRI scan on Monday and was examined by a specialist before a decision to operate was made.

It is the second major injury for the England winger this year. He missed three months of the season with a knee ligament injury sustained in January.
