Back unfazed by Leicester reunion

Leeds Carnegie head coach Neil Back insists he will be treating Sunday's LV Cup tie against Leicester Tigers just like any other.

The ex-England flanker will come up against his former side for the first time since leaving Welford Road to take the coach's role at Leeds in 2008.

"Our approach to this game is no different," Back told BBC Radio Leeds.

"The fact that it's Leicester brings nothing extra for us. We just want to perform for ourselves on Sunday."

Back won every domestic honour with the Tigers during his playing days, including two Heineken Cups, then cut his coaching teeth at Welford Road after retiring.

Back and Leeds' director of rugby Andy Key were both Leicester stalwarts before their joint move to Headingley to take up their first major management roles in the summer of 2008.

"Both Andy and I were heavily involved for a long time," said Back. "But now it's just about Leeds and this being our next competitive game.

"We want to continue building momentum and the belief that we've built in recent weeks.

"We know we can compete against any Premiership team, so we are confident that, if we play as well as we can, we can win on Sunday and that's what it is all about."

Leeds will be without former Tiger Seru Rabeni, number eight Alfie To'oala and prop Gareth Hardy at Headingley.

All three have failed to recover from the injuries picked up in the win at Wasps.

New signing Henry Fa'afili is also unavailable after being called up by Samoa for their European tour.

It means the winger will not be available for Leeds until the start of December.
