Rennie overcame serious knee injuries to earn a new deal at Edinburgh

Edinburgh head coach Rob Moffat has confirmed that flanker Ross Rennie has signed a new two-year deal to keep him at Murrayfield until 2012. Rennie, 24, has impressed since his return from a knee injury and Moffat has high hopes for next season. "We've only seen him fleetingly over the last few months because of injury," said Moffat. "I'm looking at him having a good pre-season and challenging for a starting place next season." Moffat added: "At his best he is one of the most dynamic, intelligent and courageous open-sides in the country." The academy graduate joined Edinburgh in 2004, and made his first XV debut in the Magners League against Ospreys in September 2006. His international test debut came in the Six Nations for Scotland against Ireland at Croke Park during the 2008 series. In recent years his club and international ambitions had been stalled by a serious knee operation which required reconstruction. But Rennie has since recovered and made a scoring return for Edinburgh in a Magners League defeat of Cardiff Blues in January 2010.
