11 mins: Scotland go for touch in the right corner with their first penalty but as the ball is fed left down the line from the line-out, the move fizzles out.

5 mins: TRY Scotland 0-5 Samoa
Samoa opt to kick their first penalty to touch in the corner, and from a little chip over the top of the advancing Scots, Leicester's Alesana Tuilagi touches down. Cardiff's Roger Warren misses the conversion.

3 mins: Scotland begin on the front foot and make efforts to spread the ball fast and wide at the earliest opportunity. Samoa's defence is typically robust.

1500: Scotland are playing in white - with Samoa in royal blue - as fly-half Dan Parks gets the game underway.

1458: The Samoan anthem rings out before Flower of Scotland, accompanied by a massed band of pipers, but very few fans. Samoa then perform their version of the Haka.

1452: Samoa captain Semo Sititi leads his side out into an echoing Murrayfield, barely a third full.

Several minutes later, Scotland run out to fireworks and a fanfare.
