Lions scrum-half Chris Cusiter has told Mike Blair he will be ready to take his chance in the Scotland team - if and when it comes.
Scotland head coach Frank Hadden has opted to start with Edinburgh Gunners' Blair against Argentina on Saturday ahead of his Border Reivers rival.
"It is disappointing not to be starting," said Cusiter.
"But, hopefully, if I do get brought on for Mike, I can add something to the game and get something out of it."
Hadden said that the 24-year-old's familiarity with his style of play earned him the number nine jersey ahead of Cusiter for the game at Murrayfield.
But Cusiter remains committed to the cause and said: "I love being involved in the squad and it is something I have great enthusiasm for.

"There is great enthusiasm in the camp, we know our game-plan and how we want to play."
Blair played in the summer wins against the Barbarians and Romania, which were under the guidance of Hadden as interim coch.
Those performances persuaded the Scottish Rugby Union to appoint him permanently.
And Cusiter is relishing the resumption of international matches to see just how far the Scots have come under the new man's guidance.
"We have had a few good sessions under Frank and we are now just desperate to play," he said.
Cusiter is convinced Scotland will be playing with a new freedom of expression against the Pumas.
Aussie Matt Williams was sacked after winning just three Tests from a possible 17, amid speculation of dressing-room unrest.
"It is, maybe, changed days from the old routine," said Cusiter. "Hopefully, the players will be allowed to express themselves a bit more on the pitch and that will be reflected in the performance."
