Leicester's Austin Healey has added spice to his side's Powergen Cup semi-final with Wasps by saying Matt Dawson should be dropped by England.
Healey believes the form of the Wasps scrum-half is not up to scratch.
"Dawson shouldn't be in the England squad as his form has not been good enough," Healey told BBC Sport.
"He is a big-game player but physically I don't know how he is standing up to it. It is time for young blood to come through into the squad."
Harry Ellis is the current incumbent of the England number nine jersey ahead of Dawson, and Healey thinks his Tigers team-mate deserves his spot despite recent criticism.
"Ellis has had the rough end of it recently and needs to be given time," says Healey, who won 51 England caps.
"England aren't clearing the rucks and mauls quick enough to give Ellis good ball. He is being governed by what ball is presented to him and it simply hasn't been good enough.
"England have been given brick targets to run at as they haven't been getting the ball away quickly."

Ellis is sitting out Saturday's semi so the public are denied what would have been a fascinating tussle between him and Dawson.
But there are plenty of intriguing clashes between current England colleagues to look forward to in the first of the semi-finals being held at the Millennium Stadium.
England captain Martin Corry and Lewis Moody are set to come up against Wasps' Lawrence Dallaglio and Joe Worsley, but Healey says these head-to-head encounters mean little to the players.
"None of the England boys treat a game like this any differently to any of the other clashes with Wasps and there are no real rivalries," he said.

"I'm really looking forward to the game. It's the sort of clash that sends a tingle down the spine and there is no better team to play than Wasps in a game like this.
"When you face Wasps you know it is always going to be a big game and you have to match them physically."
The winners of the first semi take on either Bath or Scarlets, whose match follows at 1715 GMT, and Healey is predicting an all-English final on 9 April at Twickenham.
"I fully expect Bath to beat the Scarlets and make the final as they have come on leaps and bounds since Brian Ashton took over."
