Dallaglio said Wasps did what they needed to do to claim the trophy

"On big days we've had big performances. Today we didn't live up to that, but credit to the Scarlets," the Wasps captain told BBC Sport.

"They stuck at it but I thought we deserved to win.

"You've got to do whatever the game demands - you can't always win pretty. We've got the silverware and we'll take the win."

Wasps Jonny O'Connor and the Scarlets' Simon Easterby were both stretchered off in the first half at Twickenham.

Easterby recovered to sit on the replacements' bench during the second half, while O'Connor was taken to hospital for a "precautionary" X-ray.

Dallaglio's first thoughts after the game were with the injured players.

"Let's not forget there were two quite serious injuries and hopefully both players have emerged OK," he said.

The match was far from a classic, with the injuries in the first half and the deteriorating conditions in the second conspiring against attempts to play open rugby.

"I think we were trying to win the game in the first 15 minutes. Everyone was really excited and running around like schoolboys," said Dallaglio.

"When the conditions turned as they did, the ball was like a bar of soap and it became very difficult to play."

Wasps winger Tom Voyce was named man of the match after his excellent support running brought him both of Wasps' tries.

"In the first half we slipped off some tackles and there was some ill-discipline, but the boys stuck at it," he told BBC Sport.
