Catalans Dragons hit by Jean-Philippe Baile injury blow

Catalans Dragons

Catalans Dragons have confirmed utility player Jean-Phillipe Baile broke an arm in Saturday's 28-14 defeat by Hull and could miss the rest of the season.

The 22-year-old France international joins Clint Greenshields, Casey McGuire, Chris Walker and Cyril Gossard on the injury list.

Coach Kevin Walters said: "He did it in a tackle. It's a pretty bad break.

"He's going to have an operation and he'll need a plate. They say it will be 12 weeks."

Baile will now miss France's clash with England at Leigh on 12 June.

Catalans, who are currently bottom of Super League, also saw Dimitri Pelo, Dallas Johnson and Dane Carlaw suffer broken noses in the defeat by Hull, while Gregory Mounis was detained overnight in hospital after being concussed.

He will now have to be examined before it is decided whether he is safe to play against Salford this weekend.

Meanwhile, Dragons' bid to sign Melbourne Storm half-back Brett Finch looks set to fail after the player indicated in Australia that he will see out the season with his current club.
