Castleford Tigers forward Joe Westerman has been released from hospital and is recovering well after suffering a head injury in the loss to St Helens.

He went to Pinderfields Hospital after a tackle during the game, which led to him falling heavily to the ground.

The game was delayed by 30 minutes as the 19-year-old received treatment after going into spasm, but a CT scan revealed no serious injury.

A club statement read: "Joe is likely to resume training during the week."

It continued: "Joe would like to thank all the supporters for their concerns. He was further assessed and received a CT scan which thankfully has revealed no serious injury."

Head coach Terry Matterson has been quick to point out that he had no concerns the injury occurred as a result of foul play.

"It was just one of those things," Matterson told the club's website.

"It was just a bit of bad luck to be honest, which is good, I'm glad there was no illegal play.

"Everything's fine, his full memory is back and everything's good, and that's fantastic, that's the most important thing today."
