Roby's two tries helped keep Harlequins on the foot of the table

Andrew Dixon and James Roby scored two tries apiece for St Helens as they held off rock-bottom battlers Harlequins to go third in Super League.

Ben Jones-Bishop scored the first of Quins' four tries, but Dixon ensured the score was 6-6 at half-time.

Kyle Eastmond fired Saints ahead after the break and seconds later Dixon crossed to seemingly secure the win.

But Kevin Penny and Luke Williamson levelled it before Roby crossed twice and Tony Clubb scored a consolation.

Quins came into the game on the back of just one win in their opening nine Super League games and opened the scoring after good work from Danny Ward and Williamson set Jones-Bishop up.

Dixon stretched over after a break from John Wilkin to level and only a late tackle by debutant Penny denied Francis Meli the chance to touch in the corner before the break.

The game had seemed to be over as a contest when Eastmond, who also kicked six goals, shrugged off three tackles to cross and Dixon held off a bunch of tacklers to put them in control.

But Quins did not give up and Penny, on loan from Warrington, leapt high to catch a Luke Gale kick and half the deficit.

And Williamson took advantage of a huge gap to cross the line after a neat passing move.

But Saints proved too strong in the end, Roby storming over after Eastmond had fell just short and then crossing from close range before Clubb finished the scoring for the hosts.
