Andrew Johns was quick to make an impact on his much-heralded debut in British club rugby by helping Warrington to a crucial win over Leeds.

The 31-year-old scrum-half created a try for second rower Logan Swann and had a hand in two of his side's other four touchdowns.

The Australian superstar also kicked five goals from six attempts and landed a 35m drop-goal.

The win lifts the Super League title outsiders to third in the table.

Leeds, however, were forced to reflect on a fourth consecutive defeat.

  • Warrington star Andrew Johns

"Everything seemed to fall into place. It was a lightning-fast game, everything I expected.

"It's been a dream of mine all along to come here and play and this was right up there with some of the big games I've been lucky enough to play in.

"We scored 33 points but it was our defence that won it. We stuck to the game plan and it worked to perfection."

  • Leeds coach Tony Smith

"It was always going to be the [Andrew] Johns party. I thought he was very good considering he only came off a plane a few days ago.

"They were certainly very spirited but we had some chances to get on top.

"We get a couple of troops back next week and we'll turn it around. We are not far away."
