Super League champions Leeds have been drawn against St Helens in the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup.

The two sides will go head-to-head on Saturday, 7 August in a repeat of the last three Super League Grand Finals.

Leeds last won the trophy in 1999, while Saints will be appearing in a record 10th consecutive semi-final.

Holders Warrington will take on the Super League's bottom club Catalans Dragons in the other last-four clash on Sunday, 8 August.

Both semi-finals will take place at neutral grounds, with Leigh or Widnes the likely venue for the Warrington-Catalans tie, with Huddersfield set to host Leeds and Saints.

St Helens coach Mick Potter believes his side's clash with the Rhinos will make a great spectacle - and would have made a dream final.

"It would have made for a fantastic final, given these two teams have played the last three Grand Finals," said Potter.

"It would have been great for the sport to have a Challenge Cup final as opposed to a Grand Final.

"The two teams go at each other hard, it's going to be a great game when it comes up."

Warrington will be favourites to overcome the Dragons to reach a second successive final, but coach Tony Smith warned his side's path to Wembley would be far from straightforward.

"It's going to be a great game," he said. "Catalans have shown they can play. It's going to be a big challenge for us.

"It's not for a few weeks so we should have our long-term injured, Garreth Carvell and Richie Myler, back. I'd like to think we'll be in pretty good shape by then."

Potter, too, thinks Catalans will prove stern opponents for the Wolves because their lowly league position means they can concentrate on the cup.

"They can probably re-focus a little bit for the semi-final and perhaps rest a couple of players the week or two weeks before," added the Saints coach.

"It's a fortunate position from that aspect but it's unfortunate that they're out of contention for the play-offs. Good luck to them but they'll have a tough battle against Warrington."
