Selby had never reached the last eight before

Mark Selby made it through to his first ever Crucible semi-final after a nail-biting 13-12 win over Ali Carter.
Carter edged ahead 6-5 in the afternoon session before Selby bit back with four in a row to go into the evening on top.
An 89 break in the first frame of the evening suggested Selby may wrap things up but Carter would not let go.
The pace of play dropped as the tension rose and trailing heavily with three reds left, Carter hit the jaws of the pocket and Selby cleared up to win.
He now faces 2005 champion Shaun Murphy in an all-English semi-final, while the other last four match sees Scots John Higgins and Stephen Maguire go head-to-head.
