Britain's Daniel Keatings took silver in the pommel horse competition at the European Gymnastics Championships.
The 17-year-old (15.450 points) was runner-up in Amsterdam to Hungary's Krisztian Berki (15.800), with Flavius Koczi of Romania (15.325) in third.
Team-mate Louis Smith nearly made it a double celebration for Team GB but was just edged out of the podium places.
Huntingdon's Keatings took a creditable 13th place overall on Saturday in the men's all-round individual competition.
The last British male competitor to win a European medal was Kanukai Jackson in the vault in 2002.
A delighted Keatings said: "I'm thrilled, I came here to make a final but never expected a medal, so I'm over the moon.
"Now the hard work begins for the World Championships (in Stuttgart) in September."
In the women's vault final, Britain's Marissa King finished in sixth with 14.175 points. The winner was Carlotta Giovannini of Italy (14.812).
