Scarborough South Cliff Bowling Club has celebrated its centenary with a special match against an England team.

"We had the England lady and gentleman presidents, various vice-presidents, junior vice-presidents and immediate past presidents.
"People from Bowls England came from all over the country, some of them three or four hundred miles."
The match started at 1400 BST with the mayor of Scarborough greeted at the event 40 minutes before, a dry mist covered the area throughout the afternoon but Banks added: "It didn't spoil the game in any way whatsoever.

"They included the two current Bowls England presidents, Angela Harris and Cliff Waterman, and we had a wonderful day's bowling.
"The result doesn't matter in these friendly sorts of games but Bowls England out-bowled us, just.
"The town crier of Scarborough Alan Booth MBE did a marvellous job as master of ceremonies for the day.
"The club was formed in April 100 years ago, we don't have a precise date but we started our centenary celebrations in April this year with an Edwardian dress match."
The Filey Road club's celebrations have also included an exhibition match featuring a quartet of international bowlers.
