The Beijing Olympics will be Reed's first major global championships
Clevedon's 10,000m runner Kate Reed is preparing for the high temperatures at the Beijing Olympics by running in a heat chamber.
The 25-year-old will join up with the rest of the Great Britain team in a holding camp in Macau on 2 August.
"Last week I covered 90 miles in training and some of that in a heat chamber at 32 degrees centigrade," Reed told BBC Radio Bristol.
"Hopefully when we get [to Beijing] it won't be such a shock."
Reed suffers from asthma but is confident she will be able to cope with the heat and the Chinese capital's smog problem.
"The British Olympic Association have been advising us all the way, and I'm fortunate that my race is at 10 o'clock at night so it will have cooled off," she added.
"The information we've got is that the levels [of pollution] have decreased quite dramatically since they shut down factories and stopped cars going into the city."
