Northung sprint finish seals gold
World champion Petter Northug of Norway won his second gold on the final day of the Winter Olympics with a thrilling finish to the 50km cross-country. Northug, 24, took his fourth medal of the Games by chasing down Germany's Axel Teichmann on the final straight. Teichmann, who was 35 seconds behind the leading group at one point, made a daring break but could not hold on. Northug had already taken gold in the team sprint, won silver in the relay and bronze in the individual sprint. He won the two-house by just 0.3 seconds, with Sweden's Johan Olsson a second behind in third. On the eve of the race, Canada's Brian McKeever discovered he had failed to become the first man to ski in both the Paralympics and Olympics. The 30-year-old, who is legally blind and suffers from Stargardt's disease giving him just 10% vision, was dropped from the team on Saturday. "The decision's been made, it's out of my hands. I respect the decision, but I don't have to be happy with it," said McKeever.
