McCrory and McKenna undecided
Eugene McKenna and Art McRory will decide soon
Art McRory has said that he and Eugene McKenna have yet to decide whether to remain on as joint-managers of the Tyrone football team.
McRory told BBC Sport Online that he didn't know when a decision would be taken. "There's no massive urgency with this at the moment," said the Dungannon man. "We're not reappointed at this stage and I don't know when a decision will be made". McRory joked that the Tyrone county board would have to give him a "good supply of uppers" in order for him to stay on in the role. Sligo defeat "Some days Eugene says he wants to go and I feel like staying on and other days, I feel like going and he feels like staying on," laughed McRory.
It's clear that the Tyrone county board want the duo to remain in the role but the decision will ultimately be down to the two men. McRory and McKenna led Tyrone the National League this year - which was the county's first senior national title. Many expected Tyrone to challenge strongly for the All-Ireland title but, after being defeated by Armagh in the Ulster Championship, they were then well-beaten by Sligo in the qualifiers. Martin McHugh has been linked with a possible vacancy if McRory and McKenna do stand down.
However, the BBC understands that the Tyrone GAA board would be more likely to consider a candidate from within the county if the duo do quit. Meanwhile, former Donegal boss Mickey Moran is the strong favourite for the vacant Derry football job. Damian Barton and Tony Scullion have also been linked with the job but the county board is not understood to have approached any of the candidates yet. Meanwhile, Donegal's process of appointing a successor to Moran will be started with the formation a managerial sub-committee. Brian McEniff was involved in the role two years ago and is expected to have an input again this time round. McGrath for Antrim? McEniff and Martin McHugh has already ruled themselves out as possible successors to Moran. 1992 All-Ireland medal winners Donal Reid and Anthony Molloy have been linked with the position as has Mickey Houston who was part of Mickey Moran's backroom team for a spell. Antrim and Monaghan also have managerial vacancies following the departures of Brian White and Jack McCarville. Former Down boss Peter McGrath is being suggested as a possible successor to White in the Saffron county role.
